Question 85,239 for a free ticket from London to Hong Kong?

Hi, guys, just got a few questions to ask, hope can get some answers from you.

I've got 85239 points with QF, and I'm going to transfer them to my uncle in the UK, he is going to fly from London to Hong Kong in NOV 2006 on Qantas. I know it's free to transfer points to your family members if they are QF members as well. So transfer points from me to him is not a problem, yeah?

Then next thing is, once my uncle got my points from me, does he just need to call Qantas or check on the net to get these points to an award ticket? The problem is, is it esay to get an award ticket with QF from London to Hong Kong? Are there lots award seats free? Do we have any chance to get that return flights?

Please help!!!! THANKS HEAPS!!!

Remember you don't have to transfer them to him for him to book the ticket. If you have some status with QF, its probably best you book for him out of your account so you have access to the T class bucket.

If he's your uncle, there should be no problem.

I suggest using the NET. To book over the telphone would cost an additional 2,500 points.

Get the booking done early, at the moment there appear to be plenty of seats.

If you book them online then the confirmation will come through straight away, correct. As others have already said, there's no need for you to transfer the points to your uncle, you can make the booking directly for him, as he's a relative.

Relative? Yup, but not blood related, is that okay? My uncle and I don't have the same family name, is that gonna be a problem? Is Qantas going to find out what kind of relationship I have with my uncle before I get him a ticket? And I am still a QF Bronze member can I just get a ticket for someone? Do I have to be a Gold or sliver member?

As long as the guy is married to one of your parents' siblings there should be no problem. In my experience Qantas do not spend a great deal of time (if any) confirming a relationship. So that's two +'s.

No, you do not have to be a gold or silver member, so that's another +!

All you need to do now is to log onto the website and armed with those three +'s and your uncle's CC details book some flights. ^
