New FIRST CLASS?
Hi, I'm usually in the CX forum, as I almost never travel on Qantas, but I heard there was a new first class on QF, and I decided to maybe burn some miles on an award ticket. What is the first class like? Food? Service? Seat?
Thanks in advance!

I think the new first class sleeper seats are a little better than the old but I cant put my finger on it.
I do like the new color scheme which is a soft blue walls and the new lighting has a nice ambience.
I think I liked the food but I was on an around the world so the food out of each country is a bit different.
I havent been on BA for a while and so I cant comment on the difference there but I would say a new seat is better than an old.
I didnt have a really broken down old one like I have in the past.

The new F is mostly a cost reduction move by QF. The seat is significantly better (it is installed with the skybed refit on 744s). The amenity kit and PJs are more stylish but about the same cost as the old (however they are a nice change). Everything else is a cost saving and it shows, with awful wines and even the sacred steak sandwich has been eliminated on half the flights! Now that is cheap! No Krug, no decent wine, serving Para port (at AUD 20 a bottle), and now no steak sandwich. QF feels it has a monopoly on its routes -- this is why I am now flying CX to Australia exclusively, whether from US or Europe. Probably others are doing so to, look at all the new flights and larger planes that CX is using on its Australian routes.
