Maybe a dumb question, but I typically fly UA/*A and have never flown QF before....
I thought Qantas used a standard awards chart for rewards flights, but is this not the case? I have a bunch of AMEX points I want to redeem to fly LAX or SFO - Perth but the Qantas website suggests it's like 1.5 Million or more points each way for business class.
Am I doing something wrong here or do they use dynamic pricing?

Qantas either have “classic rewards” which the conventional FF points for an award. That is what is being referred to here.
Or on any flight you can use points for a cash booking. This is where you see your million or so points for an award. The upside is you earn miles and have flexibility of the underlying fare. The downside is the amount of points is enormous. As converts $ to points at a very poor rate. But is very attractive to owners of businesses who may be quite points rich and do not wish to buy a toaster.
you click classic rewards and that will then display the availability.

If wanting a business class award on 24th July 2023 that is being hopeful on route LAX/SFO - BNE/SYD/MEL - PER. QF also fly from DFW & YVR. [or July 2024?]
An award may come up at short notice, but can be snapped up quickly. Such as award may/may not show up on partners sites, BA, AA, AS etc.
Are you a member of the QF ffp now? Any other OW airline ffp's? AA, AS, BA, QR Qatar etc.
Business class awards USA<--->AU have been hard to get for years on all airlines/alliances. Star Alliance can be little easier, but not by much.
