QF award < 24-hr cancel?
Does QF cancel/redeposit awards booked less than 24hr or do they charge the 6k redeposit fee?

Fees are not waived normally. If you have special circumstances you can try explaining.

Definitley not for most itineraries, but not sure if issued for travel originating in US? Certainly can cancel commercial tickets issued in US free of charge within 24 hrs of booking (if > a week to travel date).
