Missed Qantas Connection
Hi
First time poster here as i usually reside on the BA forum.
We flew from SCL-SYD yesterday with our final destination to Brisbane all on the same ticket. Our flight arrived in SYD 3 hours late, therefore missing our flight to Brisbane.
To be fair on Qantas, it was handled brilliantly, met at the gate and give a new ticket for this morning, 2 taxi cards and a room in the Novotel darling bay with $30 credit on the room for food.
Two questions
Is this standard or is there further compensation due? I'm only used to EC261 rules concerning delays
We couldn't spend the room credit as we arrived at the hotel after the restaurant closed and left before breakfast had started, therefore purchasing at the airport. Can i claim this back through Qantas?

There is no equivalent to EC261 and no compensation for the late arrival
By rebooking and proividing accommodation and transfer to the hotel , the airline has met its responsiblity
Could you not have used the credit for room service?
If you couldn't, you might be able to claim the cost of breakfast at the airport

You can, and I have done. On a missed connection off SCL-SYD, in fact.
Unfortunately Qantas rebooks on the first flight of the day the next morning, which is 6:00AM. Meaning you have to leave the hotel before 5:00AM - well before breakfast (room service or otherwise) begins.
I ordered a cheese plate the night before and kept it in the fridge.
