Points upgrade request
I've no status with QF only BA silver, I have requested a Y to W upgrade SYD-HKG however I have enough points for Y to J. Can I request the latter with the original request still applying if the J upgrade is rejected?

Yes you have two additional options when putting in the request
1. That you would like Y --> W if J is not available
2. That you agree to allow the request to be "alive" until the gate, i.e. forgo luggage, and lounge (which may not be relevant to you with BA Silver), and not really have a choice over seats.
