It'll be even worse for you now that the salad has been discontinued (IIRC from a previous posting). :(

We both received small salads with our meals. It has not been removed.

It will be in Economy.
I do not know if it is too much of a cost savings, all they were was mesculan lettuce and a fancy sounding Neil Perry type of dressing.
Interesting from the last row of economy for a few trips I notice many "salads"* were untouched so I guess QF does monitor these things and figures it is not necessary to maintain the "salad" in WHY. I wonder if
eoinz can confirm if they see many salads returned untouched or if catering etc is reported to head office.

* Note just a few lettuce leaves do not meet my definition of "salad" of course YMMV.:p

We were in J and I crave anything fresh on an aircraft whether it's fruit or lettuce.

The new service does not offer a side salad as the money spent on that is spent on a larger portion main meal which is more substantial than a salad that is quite small.

On supper flights, side salads go almost untouched.

We were on QF127. I watched the FAs plate side salads for all pax in J they gave them before serving their entrees.

Isn't this thread about economy?

J continues to have side salads, no changes there.

That was my understanding.

I opened another thread, but where do you advance order your selection for international F/J on the LAX flights?

As per other thread - I can't see it anymore. Perhaps it's been enhanced like the Y class salad. :(

How long until your trip? I have the memory of a geriatric goldfish about these things, but isn't the choice only available x number of days before the flight? I might be confusing that with other airlines.

7 days before. It never ceases to amaze me how people post questions that are clearly answered on the airline's website... http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airl...meal/global/en

Per the link, it says

Select your inflight meal choice through Select on Q-Eat, now available in Business, Premium Economy and from 25 November, International Economy on selected flights.
I guess F no longer allows preorder meals. I have in the past in F. There is no Q link in my reservations which is less than 7 days from now.

But it might be nice if "your bookings" said something like " choose your meals in advance at T-7 days " ( or whatever). This new page has all sorts of stuff ( eg purchase extra baggage, select seats and so on ) so why trawl through other sections of the QF web site when it should all get in one place ?

Pretty sure that it used to say that, I know on my next booking it doesn't (same flight that I last used Q Fail).

On the Manage Your Booking page for my flight there is a little error message that says:

Meal: ???ALLP.listelem.Meal.XRML??? (not available on QF23,AY873,AY880)

which isn't particularly helpful.

thanks for the link, knew I wasn't going mad.

I was not aware it had ever been available for First.

ISTR that when this was introduced for Business, it was noted that they were not doing it for First being THE premium service.
