Question on maximizing QFF points
Just about to book a fare on Emirates for my parents
Canberra-Melb (business)
Melb-Sing (First)
Sing-London (First)
Prague-Hong Kong (first)
Hong Kong-syd (first)
Syd-Canberra (Business)
Travel agent has quoted them all as Emirates flights. Am I better to get him to ticket them all as QANTAS to get maximum FF points and status credits?
They are QANTAS FF members but lowest level.
Any idea how many points this will get?

The fare is likely to be far higher if booked as QF codeshare on EK; for routes I fly it is about 30-50% cheaper buying EK F rather than QF codeshare F on the same flight (EK metal). So that might be the deciding consideration. Otherwise EK's FF plan is quite good for F, it might be better to join Skywards and credit to EK, fwiw.

Thanks. From my googling it look like you cannot transfer emirates points without a cost.
My parents have offered me the points for the trip as I am planning a trip to the US next year hence I figured QFF points would be better. At this stage it might be worth taking the QFF points ( at a reduced rate and flying on an EK ticket) and forgoing the status credits.

An EK flight number on EK aircraft will get QF points but no QF status credits
A QF flight number on EK aircraft will get QF points and QF status credits
If EK aircraft Dubai DXB will be in the route on/from to Europe.
With most ffp's you can book a ticket for some one else. Your parent can then book a flight for you. No idea is that is part of the EK ffp. One of the few advantages of the QF ffp is that you can move points between family members at nil cost.
If you are collecting from QF F flight's far better to get a AA miles, by a factor of about ~150% to 200%. As sample here. 1 AA mile is worth more than 1 QF point. Getting airline (QF or AA) status may effect that decision. Their are reports on the AA forum of people getting AA miles flying QF flight numbers(codeshares) on EK aircraft. As here in Posts 84 to & 91. But that may be an IT error.
