That would be "W@nker Platinum".. It's in keeping with the other abbreviations

NB - Nobody Bronze
PS - Plebian Silver
SG - Scum Gold

You see the pattern?

WP et al is what makes Oz so charming; and the QF crew definitely live up to it at times

So I'm kinda wondering just how far these terms (WP/SG/etc) have travelled outside of the AFF/FT community. Not too many other websites appear in google outside of those two. But - has anyone ever used these terms (maybe even accidentally) in any dealings with QF, and if so, did the QF staff member actually recognise what you were talking about?

Over at AFF, Red Roo has used the term "WP" at least once ... probably accidentally ...

I appreciate the responses... but still... why we start calling QF status in this way? Just some sense of humour?

Its a sense of humour that generally works in Australia. It relies on irony and people not taking themselves too seriously.

Read on the "Tall poppy syndrome" on google.

Because a small bunch of FF's had a piss up at the BNE QC (years ago, Serfty's link above) and decided to call it that, and now we are stuck with it.

I am sure attendees would recall that it was a formal meeting - with an agenda, matters for discussion, general business and other matters as deemed appropriate at the time. Abbreviations for status levels being just one of the matters discussed.

Other QP attendees respected our presence and meeting formalities by giving us as much space as we needed - and then giving us more space as our deliberations continued until the last flight home.

Here in Oz, we all know us Platinums are "W@nkers" ... of course those of gold status are mere "Scum" when compared with platinums ... those of Silver status are generally "wet behind the ears" when compared to Gold/Platinum and as such are "Plebian".

Those of antipodean birth generally understand this type of humor which can be described as being merely good natured "taking the P*ss" out of these levels of entitlement.

So, yes, certainly "Just some sense of humour? ".
