So just to clarify something.
I can still book a red-e deal and then go into my bookings and upgrade then and there and it's confirmed? I can do that each and every time as I currently can.
Is this changing or not changing?

Not changing. What changes is that if you are unsuccessful at this point, you can register for an upgrade.

I had an J-F upgrade confirmed early this morning for tomorrows QF10. Had an upgrade on QF32 last week. It had changed the seat and booking class ~30 hours out, but wasn't listed as confirmed until about 6 hours out.
Makes me 4/4 for upgrades this year.
