Ticketed in wrong class - effects of changing?
I booked a ticket chc-syd-bkch open jaw sin-syd-akl last week. The fare was an expensive NZ$2,286 (incl $465 taxes and fuel fines), as departing sydney for bangkok 28 Dec . When the ticket arrived it was economy Y class chc-syd-bkk and the return was L class sin-syd-akl
On my account the upgrade options were y to J transtasman 10,000 pts and syd-bkk 15,000 from Eco to PE My flight chc-syd posted with 40 status credits and i got an upgrade for 10,000.
Does anyone know why this is and if i called qantas to change dates etc woudl they discover the error and change the class back to L class?

The posting of 40SCs is perfectly correct for a Y class CHC-SYD and the upgrade costs look pretty normal. If you paid $2200 it is quite feasible for the flight to be in Y. Checking atm A Y fare r/t CHC to BKK comes in at NZD1908 and an L r/t AKL to SIN at NZD1722 . Taking half of each fare gives a price of NZD1815. Add taxes and fines of NZD465 and it would be NZD2280
I don't think that there is a mistake in what you paid or what you have received
It would only have been another NZD213 for Y class each way and been able to have low priced upgrades on those too
