QF32 has gone tech this afternoon. Been on stand at LHR for a couple of hours now. Crew max hours threatening to come into play.

Sigh.

Pax have been offloaded now. There were 5 of us in F, we have been told we will all be on the QF 2 tonight in F. Apparently loads are light and there is capacity to get all pax out on QF/BA services tonight, though some may go via Melbourne.

Back in the BA lounge now.

QF flight status is showing a 3 hour delay on this flight, departing at 3:05pm Saturday, rather than 12:05pm Saturday.

I was originally under the impression that the delay to this flight was longer than 3 hours....If the flight went ahead 3 hours later, why were you put onto QF2?

It was about 3pm that we were told the flight was cancelled; 4pm we disembarked, and at 5pm I was given a new boarding pass for the same seat 2K on the QF2.

QF32 definitely did not depart.

O something J I think... I did notice but I've forgotten. I'll go check to see if she is still on stand.

It was a B747 longreach. After 4.5 hours on board, were let off again, sent through LHR customs and baggage collection and eventually reallocated onto other flights for tonight or tomorrow. At the time I posted the QF website still had QF32 departing SIN on time, when it was never going to get there.

To finish the story...

Despite assuring us at LHR our bags would be transferred from the canx QF32 to the QF 2 departing 10 hours later, for about 10 F and J pax the bags did not make it. Unlike adl73x's experience, we did not have to go through immmigration and collect our bags to check-in again, but that was ultimately to our cost - one Danish guy in J had 50 copies of his presentation in his bag that he was due to deliver later that day - he was not happy!

Fortunately we were informed our bags were AWOL when disembarking in SYD so there was no long wait at the carousel. Straight to baggage services who took hotel details and gave us a form for $200 although there was no way to cash it at that hour (530am), the lady said next time we are at the airport we can cash it.

My bag was delivered to my hotel mid morning today, about 30 hours after QF 2 arrived.

When things unravel with airlines, all sorts of things go wrong. Atleast you got your bags back after 30 hours. BA took 16 days delivering mine after I was caught up in one of their strikes.

He would probably have been smarted to DHL or FedEx his presentation that trust it to airline baggage services...sorry to say. It certainly would have been money well spent!
