Does waitlist priority change if FF program is changed?
I have a QF LH LH QF booking (D class on QF, Z class on LH). This will allow me to get QF miles and UA miles (through LH). I expect I'll have to alter my FF number in the reservation when checking in for the LH flights, and then change it again to the QF number for the last flight.
My QF WP number allowed me to get a seat in the 744 Zone A (sold as 2 class on 4 class aircraft)
. For my homebound QF flight, I will request a F upgrade when the 90 day window opens.
Now, after I put in my QF upgrade request, will my place on the waitlist queue change (or even drop out) if I change my FF number in the reservation to that of (in my case), my UA number?

Both QF and LH support having 2 FF numbers associated with a PNR -- one for status and one for earning miles. Unfortunately most agents (both QF and LH) don't know how to do that, but if you persist it can get done. The upgrade request is based on QFF status, while earning can be the LH/UA number (in the LH sector); so just be sure you don't change the status field but only the earning field and you'll be fine. If it is accidentally changed, then yes, you lose any hope of getting QF upgrade cleared (being QF bronze or lower).

Both QF and LH use Amadeus system = they see each others' segments - call QF and/or LH and ask agent to insert your FF numbers. Agent should know the entry, just in case it is:
FFNUA-xxxxxxx where xxxxxxx is your UA MP number
FFNQF-yyyyyyy where yyyyyyy is your QF FF number
(no segment selection is necessary - Amadeus will assign FF number to correct segments, if there are more than one passenger in the reservation they need to name select i.e. add /P1 - to assign FF number to the first passenger).
FFNUA-xxxxxxx where xxxxxxx is your UA MP number
FFNQF-yyyyyyy where yyyyyyy is your QF FF number

Thankyou all for those comments. I have asked my TA to do the changes and will give her the coding (TPJ's) if she is unfamiliar with how to get both in the one booking.

In the past I always believed that numbers were either assigned on a global or per segment basis but am glad to hear that things have improved.
I realise that I'm about to steer this conversation in a slightly different direction, but as it is still QF related, hopefully the mods will allow me a little latitude.
I have an upcoming BA/SK booking which I want my QF and BD numbers asigned to the BA and SK segments. Is Amadeus smart enough to realise that I would prefer the SK segment to be assigned to BD (*A partner) rather than QF which is just a mileage partner of QF? The BA segments should obviously be assigned to QF.

Hi,
Agent (travel agent or airline) can also segment select with the FFN entry - they need to add /S1 at the end of the entry. So no worries - you will be able to earn miles with BD, while flying with SK.
PS. BA/BD/SK all use Amadeus, which is quite an universal system in Europe.
