QF / Etihad Codeshare

Well, I just flew into Sydney from Amman, Jordan on Etihad with a QF flight number from amman to abu dhabi and then again from Abu dhabi to Syd.
Very decent airline and nice to be able to get all my status points, FF points and bonus etc too.
No lounges! Can't use the Etihad lounge in Abu Dhabi as I have no staus with them (flying economy) and there are no one-world lounges in Abu Dhabi. BA uses an "external" lounge with a bunch of other airlines so no joy there...
There is a lounge you can use free if you have a Diners Club card (worth getting a Diners as there are quite a few lounges around the world that it will help get you into).
The RJ lounge in Amman did not give me access. Not sure about this one. I showed then my QF flight number and my SG card, but since the flight was not operated by a OW partner, they denied me access. I may have a case here but it was falling on deaf ears...

RJ was quite correct in declining admission

Entry by virtue of One World status is only applicable when departing from the airport on a flight both marketed by and operated by a One World carrier

Since the flight was marketed by a OW carrier (QF) but operated by a non OW carrier (EY), no access

Same issue flying out of India on a Qantas flight number but aircraft operated by Jet Airways. No biz class check-in, no extra luggage allowance, no lounge access!

It's ok if you know the rules and are prepared, but the first time you get 'caught' it can lave you feeling a bit put out. (I had just assumed that as QF and 9W were operating code-shares end-to-end from india to australia flights that all the benefits would apply.)

In fact I don' know why they don't. You'd think it would be to Jet's advantage to allow lounge access in India for QF members and v.v. in Australia for Jet's members.

That is entirely due to QF refusing to pay for the lounge access; Jet would be happy to collect the money for all the QFF status members using the lounge. Similarly for the luggage allowance, if QF paid then 9W would allow it Similarly EY would be happy to provide lounge access to the QF codeshare, if QF paid EY.

I guess QF knows their market and when to provide more benefits, and when less. This codeshare game, where you never know what you are really getting, is pretty dismal from a pax standpoint.

It is bad. I mean, I know NOW wat the rules are, but clearly didn't, even as a long time plat, before i ebarked on the Qf code shares on 9W. I actually thought I'd be entitled to all the benefits.

As for the lounge access - I guess 9W and EY must have less status members entitled to lounge access of you'd think they'd net them off against each other (ie QF using jet lounges in India in exchange for jet using QF in Australia).
