LH/LX/OS/OZ/NZ/SQ - TUN-SYD/AKL - $1890 r/t - Business

Tunisia might be an easier starting point than Algeria for a trip to Sydney. Similar to Algeria, Lufthansa and SWISS dropped fares from Tunis, Tunisia (TUN) to Sydney, Australia (SYD) and Auckland, New Zealand (AKL) down to $1890+ USD roundtrip.

Minimum stay is 6 days or a Saturday departure. No stopovers permitted.

TUN-FRA-ICN-SYD-ICN-FRA-TUN
22802 Miles / 5730 TND / $1890 USD Roundtrip
8.2887 cents USD per Mile Flown

Google Flights is pretty poor at finding working dates. ITA Matrix is best, but Momondo or Kayak also seem to display a fair number of working dates.

Lufthansa Booking Example

Also works with Jetstar

Interestingly you can route flights to New Zealand through the United States or Canada!

Example routing is 480 QP and 880 Points for Miles&More. Is it possible to milk it for more?

This deal and the ALG deal have made it to travel-dealz and a few other blogs when I searched Google, so if you had specific dates in mind you might want to book soon!

Well the ....ed up thing with this fare is that the fuel surcharge is miscalculated Otherwise the surcharge on all sectors for the round trip should end up as high as 1200$

1.681.000TND is around 500€

This looks great. Has anyone managed to make it work with stopovers yet?

there are absolutuely NO stopovers allowed on any LH P class fare since LH changed the fare structure last autumn. you can only try to get a 23h 55min connection as "mini-stopover"

That might not be as high as it was, but the majority of the price difference comes from a much lower base fare.

ALG fares also work to SIN instead of SYD, anyone had any luck getting this to work to SIN?

It did work. At this point I'm not sure how many seats are available in the P fare code since there weren't many to begin with, but you can definitely look!

BTW from what I recall from my limited experience is that LH group is using same tactics as TK - specifically any SS request in an RBD will most likely trigger the closure of the whole RBD for sale. For some time at least. Be careful with Orbitz and others who actually do SS bookings before you click to go to the payment page.
SS is soft sell, pre confirmed seats before a booking is saved and a record locator (with segments in HK status) is received.

Alphabet soup! I think...

RBD should be Reservation Booking Designator
HK should be Hold Confirmed
SS should be Sell Segment
