LH/LA - BUD-SCL - 565800 HUF / 1535 EUR r/t - Business

Lufthansa and LATAM - Budapest (BUD) to Santiago de Chile (SCL) via Frankfurt (FRA) and Bogota (BOG) - 565800 HUF / 1535 EUR / $1652 USD roundtrip in business. The Bogota - Santiago segments are operated by Boeing 787's, so you should be in a lie-flat seat the majority of the trip. This fare isn't the greatest for a mileage run since you are required to stay 5 days or Saturday night. Available dates are scattered through the calendar.

I haven't tried routing this fare through the USA so I'm not sure if that would work, but if you could, the stopover would not be free.

I had the same thought -- is it by chance similar to the AMS-SCL fare from last year, with stops in N.A at $100?

The AMS fare can still be booked on some dates. The fare rules are similar, but this one the stopover is 150 EUR instead of 100 EUR.

No it's actually not possible to route through USA or Canada.

I would be much more interested in a (long) BOG stopover.

Sorry, the routing rules *do* allow going via the US. Heres the full set of options:

The most logical routing for getting two longhaul sectors would probably be something like BUD-FRA-IAH-SCL (and back).

I can see slightly better prices (1365 euro) from BUD to ICN in December with Swiss. Pity it is a winter season.

I'm not at all surprised about your response. Routing restrictions are not the only restrictions here. Check the booking code and you will know why I said that.

Always very happy to learn, but I dont see why a P fare wouldnt be valid on United down from IAH to SCL?

Check Booking Code Exceptions, which basically determine what booking code is used for every possible segment.

UA from IAH to SCL has no booking code for this fare. AC from Canada to South America has no booking code for this fare. LA from North America to South America has no booking code for this fare. These de facto ruled out any routes through North America. I doubt it's unintentional.

Y if No P Inventory is also determined by Booking Code Exceptions of P Fares.

Got it, so presumably you mean this section?

Code:
IF VIA LH
VIA UA NO BOOKING CODE DATA EXISTS
   BETWEEN HOU-SCL
Thanks for the tip!

Note that this fare also works on LX (if youre lucky finding P on the ZRH-GRU segment) and you can extend it to a few other Chilean airports (ANF / CJC / PUQ) for the same fare basis. Intra Chile legs will be on LA W (premium economy) with some exceptions (e.g. GRU-SCL can be booked in D (business))
