AC/UA - YUL-HNL/OGG/KOA - $1130 r/t - Business

EDIT: Also works from Quebec City (YQB) - see Post #2

United has a few random dates here and there where you can fly Air Canada from Montreal (YUL) to one of United's hubs (usually LAX, but I did find an itinerary that went to EWR providing a widebody to Hawaii), then on to Hawaii on United for $1130 roundtrip in business class. This is $400+ cheaper than most dates on the calendar.

The flights are sold by United and after finding the flight on the calendar in Google Flights, Google will provide a link directly to United's site where you can purchase the itinerary.

Mileage Calculation Based on YUL-LAX to OGG/HNL/KOA and a $1130 fare
Miles Flown
OGG - 9900 (cents per mile flown - 11.414)
HNL - 10040 (cents per mile flown - 11.255)
KOA - 9940 (cents per mile flown - 11.368)

United - Dependent on fare and status
Base Fare - approx $1005.59 USD

Air Canada SQM
OGG - 14850 (7.609 cents per mile)
HNL - 15060 (7.503 cents per mile)
KOA - 14910 (7.579 cents per mile)

Aegean Status Miles
OGG - 14820 (7.625 cents per mile)
HNL - 15140 (7.464 cents per mile)
KOA - 14940 (7.564 cents per mile)

Miles & More Status Miles
OGG - 9900 (11.414 cents per mile)
HNL - 10040 (11.255 cents per mile)

HNL - 15522 (Cents per SQM - 7.280)
KOA - 15372 (Cents per SQM - 7.351)

Actually it's been around for years - but finding widebody longhaul space from EWR has been next to impossible for a long time. You can still find other shorter duration widebody flights, although more often on the dreaded HD variant of the 777.

cruser1 Eventhough its not a route i will use, i just want to acknowledge your efforts and thanks for sharing. There is just a small handful of posters regularly sharing deals/ mile runs/ tier point runs, even less who posts in such great details, travel dates, multiple screenshots . Good job.

Thank you! It's fun hunting for the deals. I have a few scraping scripts helping me, but the rest is looking around Google Flights mostly between city pairs I want to travel to or expect flights to be cheap. Some of it is also self-serving, like the tier point runs, but those are some of the most fun routes to search for! It's like playing a game against the airline to see how many connections I can stick between two cities before the price explodes.

I second this. Not only premium he/she posts but in the Economy forum as well. @cruser1 really appreciate all of your posts. Makes me think of new routes or airlines I want to try.

Yes, the challenge is trying to get all UA metal (so I can get a bulk fare) and connecting through EWR, IAD or ORD in both directions.

I found one for Mar 8-14 YYZ-HNL through EWR in both directions but I had to overnight in EWR on the outbound and the ticket cost me C$1875. (I used to pay ~C$1400 for many yrs for that route.) But it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack to find that elusive fare now.

Care to share how you get your UA bulk fares?

Looks like this is back (in relative terms). Here is an example of YUL-HNL at $1740 CAD. 2 stop on the outbound but 2 longest segments in lie flat. Return is HNL-EWR with a long layover for return, but probably could standby for an earlier flight to YUL, even if in Y for such a short flight. Here is an example

Not sure how many dates, but given the recent lack of deals in J, if Hawaii is coming back, this could be a good sign.

Haha! Looks like it! There are other options at similar prices, but they don't necessarily have a connection at Newark (EWR) in one direction.

Example - YOW-OGG for 1549 CAD roundtrip - https://www.google.com/travel/flight...2JC6brUqsUML7A
