CX: ARN-LHR-HKG-BKK/CGK/KUL RT in J, ~1970 GBP / 25000 SEK

Please ignore this if it's just a generally good background fare, but I found this fare rather handy today when booking my upcoming summer swanning around SE Asia.

As the title suggests, if you're willing to transfer at both LHR and HKG, you can take CX to SE Asia for less than £2,000 return, which isn't too bad for the times in which we live. The HKG-CGK connection, assuming you're allowed into Indonesia, will earn 140 BA tps, making this a potential 680 tp itinerary.

The fare basis is: IR99SEAR / PR99SEAR. There's wide availability for trips departing in May and June.

An example I can see currently is this CGK itinerary:

https://www.google.com/travel/flight...JqM5S3Q5fAwVs7

This doesn't seem to show up on Google flights as a return trip option, perhaps because of the double connection, but it easily prices up on ITA, and my travel agent had no problem finding and booking the fare when I specified the exact flights and fare basis to her.

It's also worth noting that you seem to be able to have a couple of free stopovers in HKG. I just booked (admittedly through a human travel agent) ARN-LHR-HKG-KUL then, 85 days later, BKK-HKG-LHR-ARN, with a stop of 3 nights in HKG at each end. This cost £1905, which seemed reasonable, especially as three of the four CX legs are on the A350.

Hope this helps someone contemplating an ex-EU trip to the region!

1600 Euro is great! It's more or less pre-covid pricing. I might have considered that if I weren't trying to earn BA tier points. Do you think you should start a new thread for it? A lot of Star Alliance flyers might not look at a Oneworld thread.

Brilliant fare, thanks for spotting it! I was looking later in summer and there is some availability in August / September. I can't get KUL, but I can find HKT, and for around GBP1820 or so on some days. The availability is patchy though, but hope it works for other people. I haven't managed to find it with HKG or LHR stopovers - 24 hours is fine, but anything else adds 1k or more to the fares - but that may be because of fare class availability rather than ticket validity

That's a great trip.
Do you know if adding stopovers in HKG adds much more to the cost ?
Love a bit of Hong Kong 👍

this is a terrific find. Trying to book it online with Swiss but the price increases £500. Has anyone any recent experiences of booking with a OTA ? Normally avoid them and book with the airline but £500 is a lot extra

This fare (1600 euro) is also available if you can find Z class with LH, I had a play around yesterday and got it for about £1350 from ARN through MUC.
Seems like pre-pandmic pricing but slightly harder to get available in Z on LH than LX

On some days it is cheaper to start from GOT. also the leg BKK/HKG is important for the price range. Cheapest option I found here is CX757 and back to HKG with TG.
