VN: SYD to FRA/CDG/LHR from AUD 4556 or USD ~3200

Vietnam Airlines is having a acceptable sale on their flights from Sydney to London/Paris/Frankurt via Ho Chi Minh. Seems that a deal ex-Australia to Europe is below 5000 AUD, at least from looking at trends on Google Flights and some Facebook groups.

Due to the distance if crediting to FlyingBlue flyers would obtain 132 XPs on this trip or instant Flying Blue Silver status...

Sample trips of about two weeks in late 2022. Lowest prices from Google Flights lead to OTAs, so heads up!

Sydney to Frankfurt AUD 4556

These flights only credits at 100% MQM/RDM and 20% MQDs to Delta and would earn 20504 RDMs & MQMs 4101 MQDs 1.27 MQD Ratio

Sydney to Paris AUD 4635

These flights only credits at 100% MQM/RDM and 20% MQDs to Delta and would earn 21062 RDMs & MQMs 4212 MQDs 1.29 MQD Ratio

Sydney to London AUD 4829

These flights only credits at 100% MQM/RDM and 20% MQDs to Delta and would earn 21204 RDMs & MQMs 4241 MQDs 1.18 MQD Ratio

Not that good of a deal. Seen that fare many times. You can fly proper airlines for not much more IMHO.

Feel free to provide examples; pretty rare to get sub $5k fares from Australia to Europe (excepting LCCs). Not convinced I've seen it since covid times.

Agree that for one ticket, this is pretty decent pricing at the moment. The long layovers are the biggest issue with these flights, but that is classic VN unfortunately.

Indeed, you can fly TG on the dates listed above for $6k or SQ near those dates for $6.2k with a much shorter layover on the way back, and points booking to *A (e.g. to SQ which is more usable in Australia)...

(Having said that, VN's J is fine if you can live with the long layover.)

$4000 possible on SQ/LH. I would avoid VN with such a small difference.

Link please. I certainly can't find anything approaching that.
Are you sure you're looking at AUD not USD?

I was quoting USD. That is a smidge more than the VN fare ... but honestly a much superior product, jfkeze posted an example above

Have heard lots of good reports around these flights - only negatives are the long connection times...

I actually don't mind long layovers if the airport has good lounges and things go do like SIN.
