If this wasn't a companion fare I'd be properly kicking myself right now. Booked ARN-SYD return premium eco one way business the other way, for only about 100EUR less than this fare!

This is crazy... I'm seeing 7000€ for 3ADT+1CHD on April 2-20 for ARN-SYD via HKG (VA to SYD). If you can find P availability to PEK/HND/DEL or any other Area 3 gateway, you can continue to Australia on any *A/QF/CX/VA/etc as long as there is availabilty in their lowest business class fare bucket. (I for VA, CX & QF)

How do you find these fares? They don't seem to be available on the SWISS site when I look in the US?

I generally use a specialised TA.
However to be fair Matrix isn't failproof, it often shows ghost availability. Especially itineraries including LH seem to show up despite not having any availability, at least in my experience.
