Perhaps a combination of the currency drop and general economic challenges in Turkey?

LOL.

I've been monitoring the hotel prices, and they are definitely down a bit. Though they have always been priced in euros, so it's not so much currency arbitrage as just the general economy. It seems that tourism has taken quite a hit in recent years which will only get worse.

In six months the regime will be paying tourists to visit. Hope I’m wrong.

Based on that the spread / upcharge from the middle market rate (per www,xe.com) is about 4%.

could that be because of your location? i'm wondering if using a VPN to appear that you're actually in Turkey would change anything.
Can you buy from a Turkish website for flights that do not originate in Turkey? I'm not going to do this so I don't want to do the research. Just thinking out loud.

Thanks for the info. Delighted to see fares below 2k to the west coast. Too bad it's not applicable to one way...
