Would you mind sharing what dates you're seeing upgrade space on?

What's the price for Y? It doesn't make sense to buy PE if you have C available at purchase.

If you need the 1.5x EQM then PE makes sense to buy.

Its cheaper in Y but although not much you do get more MQM and redeemable miles in PE. Also if you waitlist an upgrade and do not clear, much better to be in PE than regular economy. Also this is a premium fare thread and not all readers are AA elites and or have sytemwide upgrades.

You won't get any MQM for this fare.

PE doesn't give more redeemable miles just because its PE. It's all based on cost and elite level.

Unless you can book it as a special or unpublished fare, in which mileage earning would be significantly better.

This fare is also available from AUS, connecting through DFW/ORD/LAX, for much of Nov-Dec. The fare (from AUS) has been out there for at least a month or 2.

He's making a joke about how the person used MQM (Delta) instead of EQM for AAdvantage.

Shows apx $373 one way in coach. So, if you don't have any SWU's left and can use the extra EQM's, PE is the better deal.

PVG looks like it's $554 lowest now in PE.

I found SEA-DFW-PVG rt with the DFW-PVG legs in PE for $1004. That’s 25k eqm.

I got that. The second part of his post was serious, and not necessarily correct.

It is correct for this fare as this isn't a special fare. Whether it can be booked as one hasn't been stated. OP stated that PE would earn more redeemable miles, which isn't true based on the sole fact that it is PE.

At the prices stated an EXP would earn more redeemable miles in coach than a non-elite, gold, or platinum in PE.

The special fare designation is not actually an attribute of any given fare itself--certain booking methods add a ticket designator to other, published fares that result in them posting by distance rather than fare. I'm not sure anyone will be able to be sure whether it can be booked as one until they've tried it and seen how mileage posts.

I'm not saying you're not mostly correct, but there is a possibility of gaining significant EQD and redeemable miles by booking in PE rather than coach, at the prices stated.
