sorry that I may not have made it clear. I was just throwing ideas around, as I did not attempt any searches. Theoretically you can maximize your mileage through routings like that. Now the fare has expired so I have no idea if it truly worked or not.

The fare is still available, now bookable in AA.com, LATAM.com and more complex itinerary via powertools

example from ita and then bookable via AA, even managed to put in a transcon MIA-LAX in first class for 100 usd more
