Also wanted to add that Tunisia does not require a visa for US citizens visiting the country

Tunis is an awfully boring city, but Sousse has some great all-inclusive beach resorts that are very inexpensive.

No issue with that, it's just that the city itself is quite boring.
But I'd just come from Morocco and was heading to Cairo, so maybe I was expected too much.
