Orbitz/Expedia (AZ/KL/AF): LAX-FCO/AMS $1,617
Have to use the package holiday feature on Orbitz to get the fare. Can simply select the cheapest hotel to lower the fare as much as possible. Not sure if you have to check into the hotel for it to work. Seems to be similar to the aavactions deals that sometimes occur. Not sure if there is a minimum stay requirement.
Sample Date for FCO: 3/9/18-3/18/18 Sample Date for AMS: 3/8/18-3/18/18 |
Good find! There was a similar deal last year from Europe to Australia. If we can find the thread, perhaps we can get more information from there.

Fantastic find. Thanks for sharing!

For something similar on DL/AZ/KL/AF, do the same itinerary on Delta Vacations where you can specify a "throw-away" hotel for just 3 nights (and there's no need to check in).
Package cost comes to $1562.25 (when booking just three throw-away nights) https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...314d207efa.png |
Great find! Any length of stay limit?
Thank you. I want to buy this for my annual Europe escape. My questions:
1. Is there a length of stay limit? I cannot find deals more than 28 days. I usually stay for 6 to 7 weeks. 2. Must this be for two persons? 3. What is the travel period? Can't find deals with my dates. I hope *A and OW match. Thank you. |

Pretty amazing deal ex-LAX. Being that I've never done something like this before, is there any risk having the return flight canceled by not checking in?

How do you get a partial hotel stay? I find this option on the Orbitz website, but not on Delta's.

Anyone get this to work for summer dates?
|
I booked one to Rome for $1.5K in the spring, chose a cheap hostel for one night my first night. Not sure if I have to go check into but I may just do it just to be safe and it’s only one night, enough for me to go inside the Colosseum or something before booking a separate ticket elsewhere in Europe. Thanks for the post OP!

Orbitz works with just 2 nights. Price jumps about $100 after selecting flights, still good. No other date combinations seem to work for this price.
Can't figure out how to select just 3 hotel nights at delta.com |

Yes works ex-SFO and to PRG thru Oct. 7 day stay. AC avail as well at similar prices. Probably other stuff avail but that's all I care about. Wondering whether to give up on AS MVP75 and pull the trigger on this...
im with you on the AS status...strongly considering a switch to Delta so if I fly KLM/AF on this trip I may just push 100% of my effort to Delta Diamond... |

well I may have to change up my itinerary; SFO was pricing to about $2K to FCO but didn’t check on PRG. Based out of SFO so saves me a positioning flight to LAX which isn’t all that bad but still more preferable to fly straight out of SF. im with you on the AS status...strongly considering a switch to Delta so if I fly KLM/AF on this trip I may just push 100% of my effort to Delta Diamond... Oct was pricing out at $2200 so I am going to skip that one and wait for a BA sale. Dec was normal pricing. Have 6 total RTs to PRG this year so that should maintain MVP75 despite this flight. :) Thanks OP! |
Thanks for the post!
We found a great long weekend trip from SFO to AMS over Labor day with near perfect flights (SFO-CDG-AMS AMS-SFO) with two nights at a 4* hotel in Amsterdam that we're planning to stay at for $1561 per person. When combined with Ebates, Orbitz Orbucks, Ultimate Reward Points, and the SkyMiles earned, I'm expecting about $300 back in rewards per ticket. While it's a bit pricey for a long weekend trip (will try and use points for the remaining 3 nights) it will definitely be a comfortable one! I noticed the fare was also working for CDG too, in addition to AMS, FCO, and PRG. |
Does open-jaw work?
what about an extended stay beyond 28 days? Thank you |
I can't seem to find the fare rules. Can anyone share so we can check if there's any black out dates? TIA
|
I see this out of IAH also btw.
|
I'm seeing availability all over Europe and from Miami-Milan, Prague, Stockholm, Venice to name a few +/- $1,650 during US Labor day weekend.

any one had luck finding anything for late june/early july?

"Your price has changedWhile you were shopping, the price of your trip changed from $3,068.82 to $4,320.46. This is the next best deal for your trip."Anyway, I might find something that works here. Anyone know how the Delta MQMs work with "Special Fare" on these? |
Does anyone know if you actually have to check into the hotel without voiding the return? AAVacations works this way but I've never done it with Orbitz Packages before.

ATL-FCO ~$1500-1600 when booked as part of Expedia pkg
I've booked Expedia packages before where the airfare and hotel together are less than the retail cost of the airfare alone. But this is the first time it's worked with Biz class.
Aug. 29-Sep. 4. Total cost with hotel is ~$1900. Deducting the estimated hotel cost makes the airfare between $1500-1600. It's AF coded, DL metal for the transatlantic, connection on outbound only. Cost of airfare alone on Google Flights is $3600. I couldn't find any other threads that talked about this, but surely it's not the first time someone's reported it? Similar prices also found for Madrid over the same dates utilizing the same outbound flight, with a non-stop on the return. |

Anyone know how the Delta MQMs work with "Special Fare" on these? As far as the special fare mileage earnings, I had an Expedia package to Paris last year. I was pleasantly surprised by how many miles it earned. In order to keep the fare secret, they calculate it based on miles, and I came out pretty well, maybe better than with a regular low coach fare. I'm curious to see how it'll calculate with a Biz seat, and now that I'm Gold Medallion. |
Orbitz's max number of days for a bundle is 27. Called twice to verify this.
No open-jaw. The flights seem to be those that don't sell well--because the seats are the older ones. Whenever I tried to choose flights with the new business class seats on AF or KLM, the price jumped by over $1000. So, at least for my dates, it's a dump of undesired inventory. |
And yet it's available on SFO-AMS including direct KL services with full flat beds.

Hello everyone,
It seems like we missed this deal somehow. Is anyone able to find a deal like this from MIA/FLL? I've tried, but not finding one. Also, on a separate note, can someone tell me how to turn on notifications? Are notifications only via email or is there a way to receive notifications on my phone? Thanks. |
I noticed they were selling Norwegian Air 787 Premium Class as business class!
|
Does either one of these booking engines have any sort of calendar-based approach to checking prices for lots of dates at once? Each individual date check is so slow!
|
"unpublished Z fare" sounds like it won't earn miles.
I thought Delta says fares must be "published" to earn anything? |

So, delta flights should yield 150% MQM and RDM, and 30% MQD. That page doesn't seem to address (unless I missed it) status bonuses for RDM.

...you will then be HERE ...and able to choose the Notification frequency. Notifications are sent email. Creating an email filter to send a notification to your phone might be something to discuss here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/travel-technology-169/ |
I found a SFO-MXP combo that works the last week of August / over Labor day for $1,447 per person. I am not going to book it, so still available if others want it
