LAX-SYD on VA/DL for $2720 over Christmas

Direct in business, LAX-SYD on VA, and SYD-LAX on DL. Only appears to be available on 2 days by the looks of it.

https://www.google.com/flights/?f=0&...DL40;sc=b;eo=e

EDIT: MEL also available for the same dates

United Matching (LAX-SFO-SYD outbound, nonstop return) ~$2700

https://goo.gl/flights/UXoi

Also seeing UA @ $3500-4200 on earlier departures. It seems like you want to keep the return Dec 30th+.

Also see NZ at $4400 for Dec 11th-19th, presumably other dates (https://goo.gl/flights/KGD6)

Also seeing QF SFO-SYD @ $4500 for related dates
(https://goo.gl/flights/UKgk)

The $2700 rates are exceptionally good, never seen it that low. Even the other rates in the $3k-4k range are fantastic for this route where the cheapest I see is ~$5k. Are these normal rates for travel in their summer? I remember flying this for work two years ago and my fare was like $6k and the return was in economy =\

Only 220k AMEX MR points if you have them. Some will still have 50% bonus on their cards, even at only 35% back its 143k after rebate.

Great deal. Hopefully someone can use.

This is a good fare for legacy carriers, although very limited dates. So far, it looks this is only available over Christmas holidays.

United (UA) PQEGZCM7
PERMITTED 23DEC 17 THROUGH 24DEC 17 OR 29DEC 17 THROUGH
30DEC 17 FOR EACH TRANSPACIFIC SECTOR.

Delta (DL) IQEGZEDE
PERMITTED 23DEC 17 THROUGH 24DEC 17 OR 29DEC 17 THROUGH
30DEC 17 FOR EACH TRANSPACIFIC SECTOR.

edit: available from OAK/SJC/SAN/LAX (and area) /PHX/AUS/etc

For those in the Bay area, United good from SMF and MRY as well. Drive to SMF/MRY to save and drop the SMF/MRY on the return.

SJC fare for Delta/VA

funny, I had just booked 10 minutes from smf, and was getting ready to post. You beat me to the punch If UA, SAN/RNO/LAS/PDX also work.

PHX also works on VA/DL. So tempting for this route.

if you are looking for more flexible dates/Skyteam, xiamen has a few dates that go under 3,000, but 2 stops.

A little more (+~$150) and may have to leave a day earlier, but also from other PNW cities EUG/RDM/MFR/GEG/BOI and further down such as OTH/RDD/etc.

Fantastic. Never find award space on this route and December is peak season due to Aussie summer.

Best pricing I've seen since the famous $500 mistake fare in 2006

UA

united dot com fare is $748 for LAX->SFO->SYD on 12/23 but only if the return is in January when the inbound fare is $2995 and up on QF SYD-MEL and UA MEL-LAX.

But for 12/23 - 12/30 the fares are $1347 each way with the return on the UA nonstop.

Is there a way I can get the $748 + $1347 trip on UA?
