AA has $2092usd pretty much any Tues-Thurs departure from May-Sept, on the 787 YYZ-ORD-PVG route.

DL has less selection but they are also at $2092usd on mostly Mon-Wed departures going YYZ-MSP-SEA-PVG with 767 lieflat.
AA only operates ER4 between YYZ and ORD, not a mainline route. Short flight but a terrible aircraft. The outbound segment on the YYZ-ORD-PVG leg has a tight connection at ORD (75 minutes). Any delay and you will be over-nighting at ORD.

Better connection via DFW on AA with mainline to/from DFW and a longer connection (89 minutes) on the outbound leg and 787 from DFW to PVG.

Slightly higher ($US2300-2400) from YVR for fellow left coasters.

I'm not sure 14 minutes would make much of a difference if there really is a delay.

I did this route in November, ORD is amazing for their connections, they give you bright coloured "zip through" documents and there is practically no delay. I went gate to gate including all customs/security and crossing the airport in about 20 minutes. Incredibly well oiled machine there at ORD, I give credit where it is due.

Either routing is vastly better on AA than DL since AA used the 787 while DL is using older 767 for these flights going out of SEA.

I'm glad it worked out for you. My issue is using American Eagle instead of mainline AA. My personal experience with Eagle is it is significantly more delay prone than mainline AA flights.
