Great price to SGN. just shy of 12,000 miles, so about 17,500 EQP for AA flyers. Unfortunately seems to be available only until mid November.

Thanks for posting!

That one is expired, this is another -50% offer. And another bad sign for how the Russian economy is doing.

It's the same dates and prices are marginally higher (5%). Considered it but double entry visas for tourists are £100+ while I'd be concerned travelling back into Russia easily.

If you fly into DME you can transit without visa. The price for return flights towards the end of november seems to increase fairly steeply, though.

DOH-DME will be operated by an A320

This aircraft has two configurations. Some are lie-flat, some are recliners à la AA regional first class.

That's right.

As for SGN, they are in the process of upgrading the seats fleetwide, but I don't see why they'd put their best product on these unprofitable routes (unless dictated by the flight schedule somehow.)

During the previous version of this sale I chose etihad specifically for that reason - they have flat bed to sgn guaranteed. Also they provide 1 free hotel night in AUH on any business ticket. They don't seem to be jumping in this time, though.

Is anyone positioning in Russia from USA - how safe is it + would you need a Russian Visa?

Just a kindly reminder.
Qatar Airways flies to/from Moscow Domodedovo (DME).
If you fly into Moscow Sheremetyevo (SVO) or Moscow Vnukovo (VKO) and have connection flight from DME, you may need Russian visa, depending on your nationality.

Currently BA Silver with 1000TP's which run out mid December. Looking for a tier run before then to hit gold. The QR Moscow- Ho Chi Min will get me that for £630, which seems a bargain.

The plan would be to use RFS for LHR-DME. If flying into DME with BA on a separate ticket to the DME departure to DOH with QR, would a transit visa for this be required?

In addition to this can anyone comment on quality of QR business product on these older planes? Ive only flown the new QR A380 and 787 business product and am concerned there will be a huge drop in quality here..!

Any alternative tier run suggestions welcome if they can compete with this...

Thanks

It would not be required, I have flown similar routes. You will need to show your onward ticket before being allowed to board your incoming flight.

Lucky you! The service, menu, amenities etc are pretty much the same on the long haul. Some would consider a lie-flat seat to be a huge drop... DOH-DME is treated more as a regional flight, and the drop is indeed huge, especially since it's often a night flight.
