Cannot book BA metal across the Atlantic best I can tell at this price, seems to be AA only.

That's curious, normally the venture doesn't worry about metal.

Edit: This is an UP fare. I've never seen one on a transatlantic before.

Until the refit is completed, AA is flying 772s with F (admittedly really old F) DFW-MAD and MIA-MAD.

Although I think that captures all AA*BA services, at least you can do onward travel within Europe on BA (perhaps)

It does capture all AA coded BA operated TATL flights, but LAX-LHR-MAD with LHR-MAD on AA coded operated by BA or IB is definitely possible on this fare, since those aren't transatlantic sectors. I apologize as I could have been more clear in my post that intra-Europe flights operated by BA were allowed, although I'd most likely prefer to just go LAX-MIA-MAD on this in that instance, since AA domestic F is better than Club Europe, and it avoids an LHR transfer. Also, it is possible to book the AA 772 service with F LAX-MIA. 772 F MIA-LAX is also possible but requires an overnight, so would probably do MAD-LHR-LAX in that instance, to avoid need to reclear security in the USA.
