Pat down question

If you are patted down is the TSO supposed to use the palm of their hands or the back?

In my world, LEO, we generally use the back of our hand if we are searching a member of the opposite sex. In 20 years I have never had to do that. Thankfully there was always a female officer nearby. I'm sure TSA policy is the same.

Any especially effective place to apply defensive poison ivy?:p

Palms of hands on all areas except buttocks and genital area. Females also use back of the hand over breasts.

Bummer I had a great nasty-gram all set up for someone but if you guys say palms are allowed I guess I will have to pick a fight on something else.

It was going to be a "gotcha" for Blogger Bob on the TSA blog, but sadly at least for me the TSO did it "right".

Usually, the opposite is not true in that they are overly cautious when it comes to the sensitive areas (buttocks, crotch and breasts for females). However, in a recent class, one of my students got it backwards, and when I saw him pat the buttocks with the palm of the hand during a practice session, I interrupted him and said, "Whoa, there, partner! This ain't football! We're screeners. We screen passengers. We don't give 'em the ol' Good Game pat on the butt!":D

I can understand why you would not want to use the palm on private areas, but why is it better to use the palm on non private areas?

That' ok, I still have enough to make the post just down right irritating for Blogger Bob. I have not submitted it yet as I don't want to ruin his pool party. Do they make a tie for swimming?
