TSA is doing sweeps for illegals

http://www.10news.com/news/19543234/detail.html

SAN DIEGO -- An immigration sweep that resulted in the arrests of dozens of illegal immigrants took place in the most unexpected of places, and immigration rights activists are unhappy with the operation, 10News reported.

The sweep, which happened Wednesday at the Old Town transit center, involved agents from the Transportation Security Administration and the Border Patrol.
A Border Patrol spokesman denied the use of racial profiling. He said behavior detection officers helped identify suspected illegal immigrants on board the trolley.
While some questioned the legality of conducting a sweep on a trolley, a TSA representative said they have conducted more than 1,000 similar sweeps on a variety of modes of transportation, and federal law said it is legal.

Since the highly effective BDO's have yet to catch a tewwowist, maybe they can patrol Walmart to look to shoplifters too.

It's not "enforcing the law" it's pathetic opportunism. The ID check is supposed to be for security, not for random immigration sweeps. Hopefully, a court puts this back in check.

Isn't this the TSA Motto: And what a shameful thing it is to have to follow the law! Especially that pesky Bill of Rights thingy. Wow, what a JOB we could do on the public without Amendments 1, 4, and 5 getting in the way!

That should prove to be interesting when the TSOs return to harassing passengers and bring with them the attitude they learned while working with ICE/BP.

Bart, you really should try using more !!!!!!! when you post. Only having one after every sentence shows you haven't been following Kellymae's example very well.

Mission creep. If CBP/ICE can do things like this, then so can we, attitude.

Border Patrol officials say they were supporting a Transportation Security Administration operation when Border Patrol agents detained 21 people at the Old Town Trolley Station.
http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stori...&zIndex=104362
Rios said agents with the Transportation Security Administration and the Border Patrol questioned a 16-year-old girl and two boys, ages 15 and 17, about their residency status at the trolley station before taking them into custody and sending them to Mexico later that day.
Morales, the Border Patrol agent, said the Border Patrol assisted the TSA in a standard operation.
Bart, it seems you have it wrong. The Border Patrol (LE) was supporting a TSA (non-LE) operation.

Bart, what business is it of the TSA if a person getting on a trolley is an illegal or not?

The TSA has plenty of attitude already, you don't need any additional insight from ICE/BP.

Sleep tight tonight, citizens of SAN. The TSA has made your trolleys safe from terroristic outbreaks of noogies, spitballs and wedgies.

What legal authority does DHS have to "sweep" for illegals inside the country? Can anyone be stopped by DHS (not TSA, mind you - I'd just flip them off) law enforcement and be required to provide proof of citizenship or be subject to arrest on the spot??

How does one prove their citizenship, since none of us carry our passports around - just look "white" and speak without an accent?

Since TSA is not law enforcement, what right do they have to engage in law enforcement activity? I say NONE.

Points for nice try, though.
Please read the other articles I linked to. I did not twist any quotes. This was a TSA operation.
