The whole thing is a sham. I have observed countless times people who refuse the subway bag check, turn around, walk up the stairs, and back down another entrance at the same station.

NYPD knows this happens, which may be why they never really bother to check anyone's bag anymore. I guess TSA is sure to make it better.

The TSA is not NYPD. They are biting off more than they can chew & will get themselves killed on the NY streets & subways.

Then the TSA will push to make them all sworn occifers so the perps can be prosecuted to the highest degree. Mark my words.

I'm certain that a majority of the TSOs are forced to do this. Makes no sense at all

The good news is that people apparently ARE refusing to be searched.

If one can refuse a search, this only applies to innocent people and completely moronic criminals. It certainly cannot stop any terrorists smart enough to build magic liquid bombs.

Clearly this serves only one purpose: to increase the government's power, as well as the public's submission (surrender) to that power.

If they have the statutory authority then it looks like it would be just another administrative search. I wonder what the limitations are on the search.

Could be an IGA (inter Governmental Agreement). Those happen all the time when one jurisdiction requests help from another.

The airports werent mentioned because those officers are PAPD, not NYPD.

With an IGA whose authority and rules does the helping agency work under?

FWIW, I noticed a TSA screener in full smurf outfit who was part of the LAX entry road checkpoint yesterday. He wasn't really hanging out with the cops that usually inhabit Checkpoint Charlie, this one was standing in the inspection area, filling out paperwork.
