Propaganda Round Table

Posted here.

Still reading thru it, but so far, it's looking like a sycophant handjob for Chertoff with Kippie playing "me too." The supposed bloggers are tossing nothing but softballs.

Propaganda at its finest.

Keep the Maalox handy.

Secretary Chertoff: I doubt that that is something we would do in the next two months because I think probably the next team should take a fresh look at whether they think it is likely of bringing it down or not. But it is really driven by the operational benefit of having that higher tempo on the backside.
Yes, we've noticed that higher tempo on the backside.

So it is a great test or a great practice for our guys to keep fresh on what are the characteristics. And it is not, I’m late for my flight or I’m fighting with my son, you know, it's deception type things.
Emphasis mine.

So Kippie just admitted that they haven't found a terrorist. But people with drugs. People with cash - hey Kippie, you know what? It's not a crime to carry cash. He's also having them play immigration.

And of course, doesn't account for the fact that they're putting 4 year olds on the No Fly List.

Kip Hawley is an Idiot. It's clear that he's a puppet and his strings are being pulled by a bigger idiot, Comrade Chertoff.

Super

If FT members knew what was really going on behind closed doors at DHS and TSA, they would do more than puke.

Once January 22nd comes around, expect some interesting disclosures to start "leaking" out.

A certain internal study on threats to US aviation was sent back for "re-evaluation" because it didn't reach the conclusion the leadership wanted it to reach.

I've alluded to my interaction with DHS at a senior level in other posts. Believe me, I know of whence you speak. The problem for us who travel is that, for the immediate future, the primary focus of Gov. Napolitano in her new job will be the immigration piece of DHS. The TSA will revert to comic relief, except for those of us who have to deal with them on a regular basis.

Can't say I'm surprised. While I haven't seen that personally from DHS as I've never worked with them very deeply, I did see the same mindset at the agencies I've worked with.

Same ...., different shovel.

Not surprising, I have seen changes made to policy statements so they agree with the signers wishes, not the authors during my time in the military. The truth is the truth only if it agrees with the wishes of the boss.

I will keep an ear out for TSA happenings as usual.

Erm, last time I checked, carrying cash isn't illegal, right? Domestically, you're entilied to unlimited cash carrying. Internationally, $10k and over, declare it. So ... is Kippie/Skeltor trying to say?

Even if the u.s. imposed rules on the carrying of large quantities of cash, domestically or internationally, there are perfectly valid reasons for many to be hand carrying currency (informal family banking, Hawaldar, etc) and the u.s. needs to respect the rights of individuals to do so without let, hindrance or harrasment.
