I used to put my passport and boarding pass in there too, but after it became evident that the security theatre requires my boarding pass to be checked sixteen times between arriving at the airport and sitting in my seat on the aircraft I've stopped doing that.

Do the same - in plain view of the screeners. Never been questioned/hassled/yelled at about that, at least).

In Canada, the smallest bill is a five. So if you pay your $26 taxi fare with paper bills, you're going to get back, at a minimum, two coins, and sometimes four.
