Noxzema: liquid, gel, solid, or dangerous explosive?
I just bought a tub of Noxzema face wash. Ah, memories of high school. It occurs to me that it's neither liquid nor gel. It doesn't flow. If you hold the tub upside down, the product inside stays put.
So could I take my larger-than-3-ounce tub of Noxzema as carry on?
My guess is, "sure, until some TSO decides that solids are gels too".
What say y'all?

Don't push your luck. Put it in your other baggage. If they won't let Bed Bath and Body lotions and tubes in Noxema won't go either.

I've had mixed experiences with this sort of thing:
-I've been told that cottage cheese is, in fact, a liquid.
-I carry a hair wax that's treated as solid, even though it could very easily fall into the "gel" category. I don't put this in my baggie because the container is too large and I've not had any issues.

At my airport (MSY) they include the term "cream" and as Noxzema is a cream, then I think you have to re-package what you will need for your trip in a smaller 3 oz. or less container. YMMV.

Wouldn't excema cream come under a medical exemption?
Meanwhile, my amenity kit experiment (complete with liquids/gels inside my bag rather than removed & in the liquids baggy) is now past 100 security screens undetected.

Noxzema cream is not an excema cream. It's a face cream. Used to be used for removing make-up, pampering sunburnt skin, and so on. I thought it had passed from fashion but it was big in the 1960s. I doubt a "medical exception" would fly with the older TSA officer who remembers what it was.
