And I suppose a good gastroenterologist would reject someone whose reason for the scope was that it's fun.

When I get back home from my latest trip, I'll pull my range logs and confirm. As mentioned, the puffer was uninterested--which I distinctly remember because I figured that I was in for a world of crap.

The last time it was messed with at all was back in 2003, and the sensitivity was toned down by about 30%. Don't know who the guy was who came to do it, don't know who he works for (though an educated guess would say SIEMENS, since they handle the upkeep on the rest of our equipment), and I haven't seen him since.

Anecdote about calibrating the GE machines
This is far off topic, but since someone mentioned the GE Puffer, it gives me a chance to get my post count up.
A few years ago GE wanted to see more stuff (locomotives, powerplants, lightbulbs) to China, and arranged a special presentation at Rockefeller Center for the Chinese Premier.
Lots of GE items on display, including a MRI machine, locomotive engine, and, yes, puffer machine.
So before the Chinese Premier arrives, Diplomatic Security (or some other agency) sweeps the room. The dogs are brought in, and one of the dogs starts going crazy (or doing whatever they do when they sense explosives).
The handlers go a bit crazy themselves, and finally a GE technician settles everyone down.
Seems that the standard puffer "package" includes a small amount of explosive material used to calibrate the machine. Since everything was set for a possible live demo at a moments notice, the explosives were included when the puffer was shipped.
Anyways, I see the Olympics are on NBC, so something must of worked...
