BDO's prevent security breach
Behavior Detection Officer Checking Travel Documents and Off-Duty Police Officer Prevent Security Breach at World’s Busiest Airport
TSA.gov As part of a new initiative to engage Behavior Detection Officers (BDOs) in checking travel documents, BDO Joshua Wensell was working at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport's main security checkpoint when he was presented with ID that caught his attention. Wensell summoned fellow BDO Joseph Zavodny who engaged in conversation with the passenger in an attempt to verify his ID. Continue reading... |
I wonder if and when we'll get the "rest of the story".

not sure if we will ever get the "Rest of the story"; but running away from them and trying to run through the security checkpoint (if true) is really stupid, and had the whole terminal needed evacuation, many would have been more than pissed.

I guess I missed it...surely they found a gun, a bomb, some explosive liquids? A nuclear device, schematic diagrams on how to blow up the Sears Tower, a signed affadavit on how he intended to kill hundreds?
What was the threat here? Who did he hurt? How was he equipped to wreak havoc on the thousands of travelers goign through that airport? Where was the boxcutter, the dagger, the stun-gun to disable the crew? Did he have a warrant for his arrest? Was he a prison escapee? Did he have drugs, counterfeit cash, stolen credit cards, or (shudder to think) FIVE OUNCES OF MOUTHWASH on him?? I thought for sure that I read the entire article...I can't believe that such self-congratulatory hype would be issued for just a guy who blew the lid off of a fake ID! Posing for a news photographer? In the movie "Little Big League" one of the players that the main character really likes is struggling and at the end of his career, and the 13 year old maanger of the Minnesota Twins acts like he just hit a walk-off home run to win the game when all he did was get on base. The manager character looks at him and says, "Don't you think there's something wrong when you get THAT excited over a seeing-eye single?" The same thing applies here. The Behavior Detection Officer caught a guy with a fake ID. WELL LET'S ALL SLEEP BETTER TONIGHT knowing this hardened criminal is off the street!! Can anyone recall the percentage of decoy guns and bombs that the TSA missed at EWR last year? Was it 70 or 75%? This kind of hype on the part of the TSA means that they are desperately grasping for ANYTHING that makes them look even partially competent. I'm guessing the millions of dollars they spent on metal badges didn't cut it. --PP |

BDOs must be really ineffective if they consider identifying a nut that cannot even remember a birthday on the ID he is using a big success that is worth media coverage.

This is what happens when you have a disgusting, un-American, piece of offal agency that constantly needs to justify its useless existence.
Congress should correct the mistake it made 6 years ago and destroy this scummy agency and put its leaders in prison for life. |

You'd think if they really had the big catch that they would have names and everything. Don't most of the other stories name the offender? the lack of a name, description, etc seems strange. There isn't even a gender mentioned.
Hate to say it, but my money is on an illegal immigrant...not a "terrorist" if this really did happen. ETA: I tried googling for the story from other sources and found nothing. |

I think you meant it was 7 years ago what happening the man was ran down the escalator from exiting of the trams. I didn't realize know what happening at ATL today. Is that all concourse has been already evacuations? I think TSA has been done outstanding job for catching the man when he was misidentifications fraudulently. I thinks the man will be remain in the police custody. Unless when the police is found out when they have verify identifications by real name. The men should be remain in the jails for his miserable life in prison.
I don't care what ID, if any, that someone carries. No one should EVER have to show ID at the airport, unless they are bypassing the screening process completely. The TSA has never done any outstanding job at anything except destroying civil liberties, wasting billions of dollars, and and wiping their behinds with the Constitution. The TSA is an un-American disgrace and should be destroyed. |
