1984 has arrived. Job well done. You caught a guy with a fake ID, but nothing about whether he was a threat to airline safety. Yes is no, black is white, bad is good. TSA is only for our safety. |
I don't know...this whole scene from the BDOs sounds a lot like the spaghetti stuffed with bicarbonate of soda that Otis B Driftwood mentioned in A Night at the Opera - it causes and cures indigestion at the same time

You might want to re-read the article... the only reason the police officer grabbed this guy is because the BDO yelled "breach"

I can't believe that such self-congratulatory hype would be issued for just a guy who blew the lid off of a fake ID!

Wouldn't this same guy have been caught for "breachinig security" by a regular TDC? What difference does it make that there were BDOs involved?
And that's putting aside that all the guy did was have a fake ID, not actually anything that was a security risk. |

Hate to say it, but my money is on an illegal immigrant...not a "terrorist" if this really did happen.

As for the BDO "stopping" a security breach, I give much more credit to the off-duty LEO who actually detained the guy. "Discovering" the guy's bad ID did nothing to enhance security or avoid inconvenience for other travelers. Stopping him once he started running toward the sterile area did. |
So if this guy turns out to be one of Bin Laden's cronies, what will your remarks be? Still doesn't matter because they (the mean ole TSA) should not be checking IDs?
None of you know why this guy has multiple ID's, nor why he decided to run when they found out he was trying to pass as somene else. A simple case of a fake ID to buy some beer such as McLovin (from the movie Superbad)? Maybe. Someone trying to hide their identity for more significant reasons? also a possibility. I would at least wait for the follow-up story of who this moron is before making all the normal assumptions this forum is full of. |

If the guy turns out to be Bin Laden's crony, my response would be that US intelligence and law-enforcement should have known about him and law-enforcement should have executed a specific, targeted arrest warrant, based on probable cause, to bring him in. Not waited for him to show up at the airport and fumble an interview about his ID. Turning domestic transportation points into law-enforcement dragnets is a dangerous precedent. |

Yes, idiots, post a picture of the guy's stolen ID and info so the poor sap he dupped can get dupped again. |
