I don't know about y'all but I really don't like taking my shoes off for the TSA. All those bare and socked feet that go through there is just gross. So I'm waiting in line to get felt up and look down and the guy ahead of me is wearing the feet scrubs that the drs and nurses in ORs wear. I think that this was a novelle idea and he didn't get gruff by TSA going through. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but thought I'd share what I saw this morning.

Some airports offer them at checkpoints too. Ive seen them at PHX along with a bin full of ziplock baggies for folks who forgot them.

This is so stupid. No one should have to remove their shoes!

The TSA should be permanently destroyed for this and all their other stupid, un-American nonsense. Its "leaders" should be caned and terminated. They are filth.

Yup- which is part of the reason I like flying from PHX. I get new scrub booties and new baggies each time I go through. None of the other airports have ever complained about my booties. I like them because I usually wear flipflops everywhere and bare feet + floor= gross

PHX is nice, but i've found thier TSA people to be nastier than normal - i went through there back in January and forgot to take out my cell phone from my pocket and it beeped and the guy was less than nice about it. But, it was Superbowl weekend (thank god i was leaving, lol) so maybe it was just super stressful times.

You were there at PHX during Super Bowl weekend? I didn't even know that you went to PHX due to high volume passengers were trying go home from the games. I have been very extremely busy at Pizza Hut due to Super Bowl weekend. I have noticed that I saw lot of those people are waiting for the planes is heading back to JFK, ATL, BOS. I saw lot of people were trying to get through checkpoint but, other flight has been delayed due to weather at PHX that day. I do slighty remember when I was at work all morning until 1pm.

Yeah unfortuently i had no choice in the matter - i work for a non profit and we were working the Phoenix Comicon right before the Superbowl. Since i was flying to EWR and the Giants were in the Bowl there was a lot of people from the NY/NJ area coming and going that weekend.

You might be thinking of this incident last fall? Therein, Canarsie was ordered to remove and toss his booties after he passed the WTMD but before he was allowed to collect his screened shoes. (Fortunately, a supervisor overrode the initial screener's directive, although Canarsie got a retaliatory secondary in the bargain.)

I just don't get it. HKG, FRA, PEK, TLV, etc-- no shoe removal and flights to the USA are ok. Originate here and you have to take off you shoes. So stupid.

Wow, lots of valid content in that. I think the thread here was about alternatives to go through security not whether taking shoes off is stupid or un-American or whether or not TSA management should be caned (because you know, caning is not un-American at all ). There are plenty of threads on here about whether or not there is a point to taking your shoes off. Perhaps, you'd do better to actually post in those threads.

"All those bare and socked feet that go through there is just gross."

You can wear whatever kind of material you want going through there as long as you take off your shoes. That said, I don't recall a single post on here ever about people catching any kind of communicable disease from going through there. Do you think that the bathtub of the hotel you're staying in is always completely disinfected before you get there? Do you whatever makes you feel comfortable, but your health isn't at risk here.

Keeping my shoes on makes me feel comfortable. Possibly the TSA feels likewise, or they would make their employees go shoe-less at the checkpoints as well. They're inside, in a clean area. Why do they need shoes
