RFID US Passports

Is it too late to get a non RFID chip passport in the USA for a renewal?

Thanks

Yes -- almost certainly. I think you're about a year late.

You can make an RFID passport a non-RFID passport with some carefully placed hammer blows -- the chip is right under the icon on the cover. Don't put it in the microwave as arcing will leave evidence of tampering.

Or, you can, as I did, get a passport cover like this one.

I recommend a rubber mallet over a plain hammer. Or at least a towel to buffer the hammerhead's contact with the document. No need to leave telltale dents in the passport cover. @:-)
