IMHO Security at Airports is still a total Mess
This is my first time doing a fair bit of travelling around the world. In the last week and a half, i've been through Perth airport in Australia, Singapore, Heathrow 3 times, Amsterdam and just yesterday JFK in New York
It is interesting to see the differences in procedures in different airports. Heathrow has a real thing for shoes, making you take them off and even scanning your shoes. No other airport did that. But every other airport required me to take my laptop out of it's case but Heathrow didn't
Anyway after going through rigourous screening at Heathrow to get into the airport lounge, to actually get into the boarding gate area and onto the plane, i just showed my boarding pass. No checks, nothing. Others were getting checked, those who were only just issued their boarding pass but for some reason i didn't get checked at all. Not complaining but how easy would it have been for me to got hold of a knife in the airport lounge ! There are shops and eateries everywhere.
It just seems that airports have ridiculously strict procedures in some places but there are still holes everywhere. Overall travelling is a huge pain in the butt.
When i arrived at JFK, had to wait for an hour and a half to get through the customs queue, was disgraceful.
Amsterdam was the cruisiest airport, reflecting the relaxed Dutch people.
