Thumbs down TSA opened my bags at JFK and stole $1000 digital camera

Apparently this is common. Wanted to know whether there was anything to do.
Jetblue declines all responsibility,
CC does not work,
Police would not inquire.
I am disgusted.

if you have some more ideas or someone got a positive resolution i am willing to listen.
Thanks.

Please don't tell us you're talking about checked baggage.

Did you have any travel insurance you could fall back on? If you bought the tickets on some credit cards you'll get the insurance automatically.

Totally confused- if it was a checked bag it seems like it could have been the TSA or the rampers that stole it. If it was a carry-on... well, then color me totally confused.

I too would like to learn the circumstances. TSA in MIA stole my 18 carat gold bangle with eight small diamonds right out of the bin. (in spite of my protests, they insisted that I remove my jewelry and place it right there, along with my shoes!). That was fours years ago and I've given up dealing with TSA

Although insurance covered my loss, it burns me to no end how TSA are so untouchable. It gives me the creeps!

This is why I put my jewelry in my purse when I go through TSA, I've heard of this happening with someone's wedding ring. Good old federal workers...

My thoughts exactly. And was it locked? If so, then it was TSA, if not then it could have been the baggage handlers.

Similar thing happened to my son a few years ago while flying out of LGA. He packed video games in his checked luggage, which wasn't locked! , and 10 of them were stolen. It was such a hassle trying to get reimbursement, that we dropped the issue entirely. Of course, the dollar amount wasn't too high so that was a strong reason to drop it.

Are you telling us that the police actually refused to allow you to report this in writing?

Very sorry to hear about your loss of property. And I am sure that other posters have already chimmed in, but never, ever, ever, put anything of value into you checked bags. And believe the TSA personnel at JFK scare me more than any thought of terriorists.
