How in the world did this guy get through security?

I wish I had a picture of it, but I swear it's true.

I was in IAH on Friday waiting for my United flight back to ORD, and there was a guy waiting near the podium that had a full rack from a Texas Longhorn, wrapped in bubble wrap, waiting to board the flight.

I'm talking full size, like this, I kid you not.

The GA gave him a green gate check tag as if it was commonplance (maybe it is in Texas ). As if he was checking a stroller or something.

They must have been AT LEAST four feet long, if not five plus.

So, I want to know: How in the WORLD did this guy get through security???

(And no, it was not this guy )

Emotional support animal?

Seriously, how dangerous could this be? Just grab an aluminium handled mop or broom from a janitor, step on the end a couple times to flatten out a point, and you have a much more effective spear.

Not sure, but I've also wondered about the firearms signs in the Wichita airport. (I know it's a big hunting area.) Signs all over the baggage area telling passengers where to pick up their checked firearms. I thought NO firearms were allowed - either checked or carryon.

Checked firearms have always been allowed, but there are special rules, e.g. they must be unloaded and in a locked case, and they go through special security screening (since the case can't be opened later by TSA).

Hey, I'm not saying it's dangerous. I'm just wondering how the TSA, who thinks that 4 oz. bottles of water are dangerous, allowed this guy through.

Everything is bigger in Texas. Once he left the ground it shrunk to 12 inches. No problem.

That's a good one. I kinda chucked at the picture of the longhorn. But when I saw Bogg Hawg...that brought back memories and left me ROTF!

Maybe the pax got a pass from Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane!
