Lightbulb HowTo: Request Your Own DHS Travel Dossier

The Department of Homeland Security already knows everything about your travel. Now, for the first time, The Identity Project makes it easy for you to request the unclassified parts of the dossier that the DHS has complied on you.

According to the linked website, the information regarding the types of personal data DHS collects for both you domestic and international travel is truly scary.

Mad props to you, Bill! What a great service you and everyone at The Identity Project have provided to the public.

Please keep us posted on hits to your site on this matter, if you can.

Interesting... But the Privacy Act Release Form seems to relate only to US citizens. Is there some way that I, as a foreigner who visits the USA regularly, can get access to the information held on me?

Alas, not from US agencies. We're working on ways to make it easier for Europeans to file requests with their respective data protection commissioners.

In the meantime, theoretically, a US Flyertalker, um, citizen could make the request on a behalf of a non-US Flyertalker ... erm, citizen with proper permission. Right?

I wonder if this type of request would get you onto those SSSSpecial lists.

Evidently you don't spend much time at 21000 Brookpark Road.

I'm with Nick and Lurker, a little concerned that asking for the info will just make them think that I need to be watched even more and "randomly selected" all the time.

What have we come to? All Freedom Loving Americans who fear the US becoming a Police State obviously have something to hide and need to be more closely watched by the New Police State.

Why did James Madison and friends waste their time with that Bill of Rights thing? For nothing?

Are people resident in the US who have no intention of ever becoming a US citizen able to request their dossier?... or is the method suggested by essxjay the only workaround available?
