8/13/07 COS evacuated: "Security Emergency"
Colorado Springs Airport Emergency: Terminal Evacuated
Aug 13, 2007 03:28 PM MDT
COLORADO SPRINGS - Authorities are investigating a "Security Emergency" at the Colorado Springs Airport. The terminal has been evacuated. Several agencies are responding to aid in the situation.
A spokesperson at the airport could not give NEWSCHANNEL 13 many details due to the fact it's under a "Security Emergency" until authorities can investigate. What is causing this emergency could not be confirmed, only that the situation began just after 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. It is believed a "threatening phone call" of some sort was made.
A NEWSCHANNEL 13 viewer and AM1240 FM105.5 KRDO listener called from a Salt Lake City airport to say his flight into Colorado Springs is currently grounded. Flights enroute to the airport are being allowed to land, but must sit on the runway. Traffic is also beginning to build up dramatically on Powers Boulevard leading to the terminal, so drivers may want to avoid this area.
A crew is on the scene gathering more information. NEWSCHANNEL 13, AM1240 FM105.5 KRDO and krdo.com will report all new details as they become available.

COS airport shares its runway with Peterson AFB. Peterson is one of FIVE military installations in the COS area:
Fort Carson (Army) - 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) (coming in from Ft. Hood, TX) and the headquarters of the second and third battalions of the 10th Special Forces Group
Peterson Air Force Base - headquarters of the majority of Air Force Space Command and headquarters of the majority of Air Force Space Command
Schriever Air Force Base - 50th Space Wing, GPS master control station, GPS Operations Center, US Naval Observatory Alternate Master Clock, national missile defence control center
NORAD (Cheyenne Mountain Air Station) - control shifted to Peterson but CM is still on hot standby and has backup command & control for much of the satellite fleet
United States Air Force Academy

All Clear
Here's the updated info based on jonesing's link:
Colorado Springs Terminal Re-Opened After Threat
COLORADO SPRINGS - After a "Security Emergency" at the Colorado Springs Airport closed the terminal for about 2 1/2 hours, it has been cleared as safe. About 300 people had to be evacuated and flights were temporarily delayed.
A spokesperson at the airport could not give NEWSCHANNEL 13 many details throughout the incident, but now confirms it was a bomb threat. It was made around 1:00 Monday afternoon. The caller said the bomb was about to go off, prompting officials to evacuate immediately and investigate the threat.
Many people were stuck at airports around the country while authorities investigated the threat. A NEWSCHANNEL 13 viewer and AM1240 FM105.5 KRDO listener called from a Salt Lake City airport to say his flight into Colorado Springs had to be grounded. Another called and said she actually had to get off the plane after boarding.
Flights enroute to the airport were allowed to land, but had to sit on the runway. Traffic is still a problem from Powers Boulevard leading up to the terminal, so drivers may want to avoid this area.
No word on any suspects involved in the threat. A crew is on the scene still gathering more information. NEWSCHANNEL 13, AM1240 FM105.5 KRDO and krdo.com will report all new details as they become available.

The threat was for a Naqahdah-enhanced bomb.
Stargate is not quite finished. There are two straight to DVD movies being made, plus there is always Atlantis.
