Has anybody frozen a large tube of toothpaste and gotten it through? Not sure how the consistency would be after defrosting.
My strategy for larger than 100ML is to but it on the bottom/under several other other tubes. TSA never notices my 5.4OZ toothpaste. Truthfully it is hard to find 3 oz of toothpaste. |
I've only been traveling with solids/powders/towelettes for the last several sets of flights. Even though the bottles and jars are the same shapes/sizes as if they had liquids in them, nobody at security has wanted to inspect them. I am a little surprised. Aren't they supposed to be able to tell from the shape of the containers or do they have some way to see liquids, like they're a different color on the monitor or something?

I notice that few, if any, of the tubed products I like to travel with come in tubes that list the volume. Only mass/weight (Yes, I know they are not the same thing, Professor!)
So how am I to know what the volume is of my 2 oz tube of Neosporin is? |

The imbeciles "in charge" at the TSA claim that frozen items will eventually thaw into dangerous liquids. About the only science I can credit these morons with is understanding that some items that are frozen at room temperature will eventually revert to a liquid. Harmless is harmless, however. Pity these jackasses don't comprehend that aspect of the equation. |

You hit it on the head Travis--keep the people with the least to fear on the edge of their seats and the hysteria will be a self-generating machine. Does anyone really think the TSA will ever consider it's job done and decide to shrink it's ranks? Heck no--when the administration created the agency it released a monster (along with the Dept of Homeland security).
Certain people will continue to harbor these fears, and certain law enforcement agencies in places like Cheyenne Wyoming will still happily take the federal dollars to buy themselves humvees to take on the hordes of terrorists outside the check-in curb. |

Disobedience of TSA's stupid rules might just get them done away with faster. I'm all for that - it might actually lead me to consider air travel for vacations again. |
