Secure Your Hardshell with TSA locks for $15

Items:
1. Any TSA lock
2. 5-6 foot chain
3. 6 inch chain (with smaller chain links)
4. Tape.
5. Paper.
6. Carabiner (2)

Directions:
1. Write combination on paper and tape it above the built-in combination lock.
2. If applicable, tape keys.
3. Place the following note inside: "Please leave chain and TSA lock inside me. Then lock me as normal, spinning the combination lock. Finally, tape key to outside of me. Thank you."
3. Lock bag.
4. Wrap long chain around hardshell baggage.
5. Use two carabiners to secure the chain. Place TSA lock in between.

Ensure TSA lock and carabiners are on the side of the luggage that don't ever face the conveyor.

Sounds like a lot of work and it sounds as good as handing car thieves the keys to your ride with the hope that they won't go through your trunk.

At least thieves have to put forth some effort. I personally don't like those TSA luggage straps because all you need are scissors.

I still wonder how far out we are before alarm rates are within reason that physical searches are once in a blue moon.

The problem is the TSA are the ones I want to keep out of my luggage...

I just use very small nylon straps that are difficult to remove - the TSA theives are too lazy to bother. They would also serve as proof the bags had been opened.
