Ship of fools

Rep. Bennie Thompson, chair of the House Homeland Security Committee said this re: DHS

"We had assumed that the Department of Homeland Security was shipshape, but in reality they're just ships of fools," says Thompson.

If I remember correctly, Rep. Thompson is from Louisiana, so his disdain for the DHS goes way beyond the TSA! I hope he gets Chertoff's head handed to him on a platter.

"Somebody knew that there was a problem, and no one tried to fix it," says Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. "They went right on through with performing their work, as if everything was fine."

So the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee knows there is a problem. Is he going to fix it, or simply pass the buck?

I hope so, but only because Chertoff isn't doing his job.

Of course, he can do one better and just abolish DHS once and for all. ^

The real shame being how this could overshadow the otherwise great things the very capable coasties do with a very small budget.

In a recent survey, the DHS ranked 36 out of 36 federal agencies in terms of employee job satisfaction!
