Granny speaks!

So, I'm already in my seat for my PHX-DFW flight yesterday, watching the circus that is boarding, when this lovely elderly lady arrives at her seat across from me. She is apparently in the aisle seat & doesn't want to have to get up when her row-mates arrive, so she stands in front of her seat, chatting to all of us around her. After announcing that she is 80 years old, she then proceeds to ask, in a wonderful deep southern accent, 'When will they get someone @ the checkpoint who knows the difference between toothpaste & something that will hurt someone?'

I wish Comrade Hawley had been on the plane. Maybe granny would have caned him like he so richly deserves.

"I was only following orders" has been the mantra of many unsuccessful defendants over the years.

It's the same as people who hate the soldiers for the war in Iraq.

No they don't. They work to collect a paycheck. Nothing more.

The day that paycheck stops coming is the day they are gone to something else. If they cared at all about my protection, their "service" would be optional.

Because what they are doing is morally wrong and economically destructive, imho.

Safer, wealthier, freer, etc.

EngIceDave Jan 7, 2007 1:09 pm

and people keep saying that I am making it up that some folks on this forum want zero security

In a way the guy is sorta right. Why get pi$$ed at IRS agents? They didn't make the convoluted tax laws. TSA agents are working lawfully, in a regular job. They didn't make the assinine rules. They didn't decide that granny's toothpaste was a threat to western civilization.

Even so, I'll probably make some sort of remarks myself when I go through again this week. Kill the messenger I say!
