Gel Medication
Need some quick info if possible.....
Flying tomorrow non-stop BWI-RDU on a trip I need to check luggage.
I just started a medication that is a gel I rub on for hormone replacement therapy. Gel comes in 10 oz dispenser. Dispenser itself does not have prescription label, but box it came in does.
My flight is non-stop so, not much worry if I check it, but it is not something that you should stop taking "cold turkey" if lost.
Am I out of luck for carrying it on? Dispenser would not fit in qt size baggie.

If the box has a prescription, you SHOULD be fine, pending the mood of the TSA agent. According to them, you should screen it separately from the rest of your stuff and if it's prescription, the 3 oz limit does not apply.

No, I am good and have the box. I will stop by security and show them what I have before checking my luggage and see what they say. I will report back this evening.
I appreciate everyone's responses.

Let me put on my pharmacist hat here.
Ask your pharmacist to print out two labels, one for the box and another for the dispensing tube or container. You can never have enough prescription labels in this environment.

Anyway, made it through fine. I spoke with TSA and showed them the medecine before checking my bag. It did have to go through X-Ray in a separate bin.
Thanks to all.

The pharmacist did only label the box. BUT, instructions on the box instruct the pharmacist to do exactly as you said. Label the box and both pumps. I will have them do it next time.
